Many people seem to like the beaches with more people like this Punta Cana beach. The AMR Collection ( AMResorts’ new master brand) marked the opening of Secrets Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort and Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort on Aug. I guess people do not like quiet beaches like Playa Magueyito. I've been there over a dozen times and for whatever reason I usually see only 3 or 4 people at most. The sand is soft and the water is crystal clear. One of my favorite beaches is Playa Magueyito a 15 minute walk from Secrets. Mid week this is what the pool looked like at 2:00 pm. When I was at Dreams the family pool was packed on the weekend. When I went to the lower pool around noon there was more people but I did not find the pool too busy. I was able to find a chair at the upper pool. Here is a pic I took at the Secrets pool one April at 10:00 am. It just depends on the clientele that is at your resort at the time you are there.

A couple days later I only saw a few towels around the pool and beach at 9am. He threw some belongings on them and he also walked away. I the watched another guy put 8 towels down on the front row of the corner infinity pool I was in. Someone put 20 towels down around 8:30 am at the center inifinity pool at Dreams than went away. I'm not a fan of NO towel cards as many people abuse using the towels putting them everywhere from the pool to the beach. The beach does drop off quite quickly though at both Dreams and Secrets. When you walk from the lower pool to the activities shack the beach is flat and oddly enough the moment you walk 3 minutes away to the left the coarse sand becomes softer and softer and is quite nice. Even before 8 am in the morning as its that warm.

I usually go in for 45 minutes at a time. Last time at Secrets it was swimmable from one end to the other. I've seen the beach at Secrets Black Flagged and you were not even allowed to walk the beach anywhere to the right. The ocean seems to change from week to week even day to day. This year will make it our 6th time to Las Brisas. One has a coral reef with fish that makes it worthwhile to snorkel. It has 4 beaches, of which 2 are very sheltered and swimable. No coral there for snorkeling that I could see though.įor these reasons we favour Las Brisas over Dreams and Secrets. There is one big rock there that provides some shelter. The beach and sand is better at Dreams, but is still not great. Those that play the game get up very early and cover all the loungers they want with those stacks of towels. When we were there the towel game was awful. There are no towel cards, and they just put big stacks of towels down by the pool. The swells coming ashore can be significant. While Secrets is in a bay and somewhat sheltered, it faces South and toward the open ocean. And the sand I believe is crushed coral, not fine sand. The slope is very steep, the water is not very swimable, unless you go off the resort to the East. In my opinion while the beach at Secrets looks great from a distance and in pictures, it is poor in actual real life. We have stayed at Secrets once, and I have walked the beach at Dreams but not stayed there.
